13 Oct lyntia launches Quantum Safe, its new post-quantum encryption option for the Wavelength service
· The company strengthens its optical connectivity portfolio with a solution designed to anticipate the challenges of quantum computing and guarantee the security of the most critical communications.
Madrid, 8 October 2025 — lyntia, a leading wholesale operator of connectivity solutions in southern Europe, announces the launch of Quantum Safe, a new advanced encryption option integrated into its Wavelength service, designed to anticipate the emerging threats of quantum computing.
The Iberian Peninsula is undergoing an unprecedented digital transformation. With record growth in data centre capacity and massive investment in digital and energy infrastructure, the region has established itself as a strategic connectivity hub in Europe. In this scenario, reliability, low latency and security are becoming differentiating factors in sustaining a robust digital ecosystem that is prepared for future demand.
In this context, technological developments in the quantum field are introducing unprecedented security challenges. It is estimated that, in the coming years, quantum computers will be capable of breaking current encryption systems, compromising the confidentiality of the most critical digital communications. With the aim of staying ahead of this reality, lyntia is incorporating a new Quantum Safe solution into its optical connectivity portfolio.
Quantum Safe Encryption uses cryptographic algorithms that are resistant to quantum computing attacks, ensuring data confidentiality in highly demanding environments. This technology is integrated directly into the physical layer (L1) of the network, offering:
· Encryption with ultra-low latency and no impact on traffic.
· Automatic key management and customisation of rotation frequency.
· Transparent encryption to upper-layer protocols.
· Compatibility with current infrastructures.
· Security longevity, as it protects sensitive data that must remain confidential for decades.
“Quantum Safe is a step forward in the evolution of our Wavelength product. Not only are we responding to a future threat, but we are also helping our customers prepare now with an integrated, efficient and flexible solution. This is a clear example of how at lyntia we work to protect our customers’ most critical asset: their information.”
— Fernando Conde, Product Manager of Optical Services at lyntia
This new functionality complements the current L1 MD (Manual Distribution) encryption option. It is part of the service’s evolution roadmap, which is analysing the future development of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) options as the next step towards advanced, distributed security.
With this addition, lyntia reinforces its position as an innovative and distinctive operator in the wholesale market, offering a robust network that is ready for the challenges of the present and the future. Quantum Safe marks the beginning of a series of product and service launches that lyntia will roll out by the end of 2025, designed to anticipate the needs of its customers in a context of unprecedented expansion and transformation in the connectivity and data centre sector.
