06 Oct lyntia expands DC Connect coverage to Digital Realty’s new BCN1 data center in Barcelona
The addition of BCN1 strengthens lyntia’s private, secure and scalable connectivity offering and reinforces its position as the leading operator in data center coverage across Iberia, with DC Connect available in more than 70% of the region’s data centers.
Madrid/Barcelona, 6 October 2026. lyntia, a leading neutral wholesale provider of fibre optic and connectivity services in Spain and Portugal, today announced the expansion of DC Connect coverage to Digital Realty’s new BCN1 data center in Barcelona. With this addition, lyntia incorporates another strategic location into its private interconnection ecosystem, further strengthening its position as the leading operator in data center coverage across Iberia.
The availability of DC Connect at BCN1 will enable customers to access one of Southern Europe’s newest strategic digital hubs through private, secure and scalable connectivity. This will facilitate the interconnection of critical infrastructures, multicloud environments and high-performance applications, while providing enhanced low-latency connectivity, resilience and route diversity.
DC Connect is lyntia’s private connectivity platform, enabling customers to integrate Ethernet, Internet and Cloud connectivity services over a neutral, nationwide infrastructure. The platform simplifies the deployment of distributed digital architectures and is supported by a connectivity footprint that reaches more than 70% of data centers across Iberia, with presence in Spain, Portugal and Marseille.
Barcelona strengthens its role as a strategic digital hub
The launch of BCN1 further consolidates Barcelona’s position as one of the Mediterranean’s leading digital connectivity hubs, driven by its strategic location for international interconnection, the growing presence of cloud providers and global carriers, and its proximity to key international data traffic routes.
The integration of BCN1 into DC Connect expands geographic diversity options for lyntia customers while complementing the existing ecosystems in Madrid, Lisbon and Marseille for business continuity, disaster recovery and distributed architecture deployments.
Greater resilience for critical infrastructures
With BCN1 integrated into DC Connect, customers will be able to deploy advanced architectures based on:
- Private interconnection between data centers in Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon and Marseille.
- Geographic diversification of applications and workloads.
- Private access to multiple cloud providers.
- Alternative routes and greater isolation from failure domains.
- Scalable bandwidth options from 1G to 100G, subject to technical and commercial availability.
These capabilities are particularly valuable for organizations with demanding requirements for availability, security and regulatory compliance, including financial institutions, public sector organisations, industrial companies, energy providers and digital service providers.
“The integration of Digital Realty BCN1 into DC Connect reinforces our commitment to connecting the leading digital ecosystems across Iberia. This new location expands the resilience, multicloud connectivity and geographic diversity capabilities available to our customers, accelerating the deployment of critical infrastructures and next-generation digital services.” Andrés Silvestre Benedicto, Head of Customer Solutions at lyntia
“The availability of lyntia’s DC Connect at BCN1 strengthens the connectivity options available to our customers in Barcelona and across Iberia. It reinforces BCN1’s role as an open, connected and resilient digital hub, supporting enterprises as they scale hybrid, multicloud and data-intensive workloads.” Javier Elena, Head of Sales Spain at Digital Realty.
Driving Iberia’s digital ecosystem
With this expansion, lyntia continues to strengthen its position as the leading operator in data center coverage across Iberia, offering an interconnection platform built on its own infrastructure that reaches more than 70% of the region’s data centers and supports the adoption of hybrid and multicloud architectures.
The availability of DC Connect at Digital Realty BCN1 will provide enterprises, carriers and cloud providers with new low-latency, high-capacity and resilient connectivity options to support cloud, artificial intelligence, data-intensive workloads and next-generation digital services.
