Madrid, 16 September 2026  lyntia, a leading neutral wholesale connectivity operator in Southern Europe, announces that its Board of Directors has appointed Luis Rivera as its new CEO, succeeding José Antonio López.

Luis Rivera has extensive experience in senior leadership positions at leading telecommunications and infrastructure companies. He served as CEO of Bluevia, where he led major milestones including the entry of Vauban and CA into the shareholding through a transaction valued at more than €1 billion and the expansion of the network to 5 million premises. Previously, he was Head of Corporate Strategy at Telefónica, where he drove the creation of new global business units such as Telefónica Tech and Telefónica Infra. During this period, he participated in major corporate transactions, including the acquisition of GVT in Brazil and the merger with Virgin Media in the United Kingdom. He also led initiatives to unlock the value of infrastructure assets through the creation of companies such as Telxius and Nabiax. Earlier in his career, he was a strategy consultant at McKinsey and AT Kearney. He holds a Telecommunications Engineering degree from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and an MBA from Columbia University.

Francisco Román, Chairman of lyntia’s Board of Directors, highlighted that Luis Rivera’s appointment reflects the Board’s intention to strengthen the company’s leadership as it enters a new phase of growth. He noted that Rivera’s extensive experience in connectivity and digital infrastructure, together with his knowledge of the sector across different markets, will be key to continuing to drive value creation. “Luis is an exceptional leader and brings extensive experience in the world of connectivity and digital infrastructure. His strong customer focus and commitment to service excellence will be highly valuable in leading the company’s new cycle of value creation.”

For his part, Luis Rivera said that he takes on this new responsibility at a particularly significant time for the digital infrastructure sector, marked by the acceleration of artificial intelligence and growing demand for scalable, high-performance fibre networks. “It is a great honour to join lyntia as CEO of a company with an extraordinary customer focus and the highest quality standards.” He also expressed his enthusiasm for starting to work alongside customers, the team, partners and the Board of Directors to build the company’s next chapter, while thanking them for the trust placed in him.

Román also highlighted José Antonio López’s contribution over the past six years, a period during which lyntia has consolidated its position as a leading neutral wholesale operator in Southern Europe through significant strategic progress. “On behalf of the Board of Directors and on my own behalf, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for his dedication and contribution.”

Jose Antonio Lopez, reflecting on his tenure at the helm of the company, recalled some of the milestones achieved in recent years, including the carve-out of the Access and Networks businesses, the subsequent sale of lyntia Networks, the acquisition and integration of Evolutio’s connectivity subsidiary, the incorporation of ONI’s fibre assets in Portugal and the €1.4 billion refinancing. These transactions have helped consolidate the most extensive fibre network in Iberia and the company’s leadership across the Telco, B2B and Hyperscaler segments. After thanking customers, employees, partners, the Board and shareholders for their support, he said that “with Luis Rivera as CEO, lyntia will have the right leader to continue driving value creation at this great company. The best is yet to come.”
